Position Description:  Team Lead, Procurement

Reports To:     Delivery Lead

Job Purpose / Summary

The Team Lead is a member of a client sourcing service delivery team, supporting Denali’s client with a wide range of activities within the source to pay procurement life cycle. The Team Lead works closely with the client category business partner to evaluate procurement process requirements, delivery and issues.  The Team Lead manages a Denali team supporting the purchasing requests and related projects for the business group.  The Team Lead understands the business group’s priorities, strategies and ensures Denali delivery processes support both.  The Team Lead will act as a liaison between the supplier client business partner, stakeholders, client category/sourcing managers and the Denali procurement operations team, reviewing projects and making decisions based on scope and process requirements defined with the client business groups.  

Key Responsibilities / Job Duties:

Delivery Management

  • Work with Procurement Business partners and Sourcing Managers to develop and document standard templates and category job aids to be used for ongoing sourcing activities o
  • Assist Procurement Business partners to ensure procurement processes meet business needs through quality assessments, process audits and stakeholder feedback
  • Support procurement projects as needed

Team Management

  • In conjunction with Delivery Lead, provide development feedback to individuals on the team
  • Coach, transfer knowledge, and develop team members to be more effective in their roles
  • Develop mastery in multiple core phases of the Denali sourcing methodology and provide mentoring and training to team members

Client and Project Management

  • Evaluate delivery to client expectations with respect to project scoping, on-time project management, on-time supplier deliveries etc.
  • Improve overall delivery through conducting root cause analysis of process constraints
  • Evaluate sourcing opportunities to drive cost reduction. Ability to understand and articulate the stakeholder requirements to answer queries related to the purchase requisition process
  • Review and summarize drivers and opportunities using operational metrics

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Procurement Functional/Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of procurement methodology and ability to apply various concepts to sourcing activities at the Client
  • Familiarity with sourcing best practice approaches and techniques
  • Ability to synthesize data, draw conclusion, and make recommendations based on understanding of client objectives and requirements
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work with data in Excel using pivot tables and various other key Excel functions to analyze, organize and present data
  • Category specific knowledge and experience
  • Ability to work with various technology platforms

Business Fundamentals:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated teamwork and team leadership capabilities
  • Excellent project management skills including project planning, time management, multitasking, critical path definition

Client Services Capabilities:

  • Strong customer service orientation including demonstrated issue resolution and relationship management skills
  • Ability to learn and master client specific processes, terminology, political environment, systems and unique requirements by various business groups
  • Solid decision making ability using available facts in sensitive client situations

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required
  • MBA or master’s degree in supply chain, operations, or business preferred
  • Professional certification in Procurement or Supply Chain from ISM, APICS, etc preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in procurement, sourcing, operations, or supply chain with minimum 2 years client service experience
  • Consulting or client service delivery experience a plus
  • Prior management experience of 3+ people on a project level preferred
  • Experience in BPO & IT preferred
